Penni C. Tomlinson

Ms. Tomlinson achieved her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Pensacola, FL,

about 20 years ago and served as outreach manager on Misawa Airbase, Japan, before

starting work with dual diagnosis clients in psychiatric settings in Tennesee, Louisiana,

and Florida as a counselor. She was originally trained to work with impaired

professionals and military members before coming to HealthCare Connection in 2010,

where she developed the licensed outpatient program and teaches recovery skills to all

clients. Ms. Tomlinson specializes in reduction of trauma responses and client

problems concerning family or marital issues at the IOP level of care.

Peter R. Vagg, Ph.D

Dr. Vagg is a psychologist who specializes in psychological measurement, health

psychology, organizational development, and executive coaching, completing his

studies in Australia. He became a Doctor in Philosophy at the University of Michigan,

doing post-doctoral work at the University of South Florida, bringing him to this area,

where he has been licensed since 1983. Dr. Vagg was a professor of psychology at USF,

as well as Long Island University and the Center for Behavioral Medicine and Health

Psychology, and has published literature over the course of his career. He has been

associated with HealthCare Connection for several years, his work involving the

assessment and diagnosis of various aspects of an addict’ s problems, such as memory,

cognition, or intellectual processing. Dr. Vagg consults with clients to help them

understand the size and nature of problems indicated in the psychological assessment

tools. Our staff can develop treatment strategies to resolve or accommodate specific

client needs, as well as determining the need for medications. The process helps clients

make informed choices about how to arrange their own recovery, reducing the

likelihood of relapse.
