At Healthcare Connection of Tampa you’ll find custom addictions recovery programs built around proven therapies.
No two of our clients are the same. And that’s why after a thorough assessment of your individual addictions, issues and needs we’ll develop a program that we believe will be most effective for you.
But at the same time we work with a variety of proven therapies and techniques that we have found very effective in helping our clients gain success, often when they have not been successful in other programs. Below we share a little bit about some of the key therapies we use.
12-step program techniques
Originally developed in the late 1930s by Bill W. (Wilson) the founder of AA, the Twelve Steps have proven to be a key portion of many recovery programs, and are as potent and relevant today as they were 70 years ago. We find that that they help our clients to come to terms with their issues and take responsibility for their past behavior. Additionally while they bring a spiritual component to the program they work with just about any belief system.
Neurobiofeedback is a relatively new type of computerized biofeedback that is used to help you relax and take control over the stresses in life that may be contributing to your addictive behaviors. Treatment runs for 20 to 40 sessions and is effective in the control of ADD, ADHD, cravings and other deficits of mental focus. Neurobiofeedback has also been proven to be an extremely effective tool for relapse prevention of drug and alcohol addiction. Neurobiofeedback retrains your brain waves in a way that ultimately alters brain chemistry. The training activates healthy neurons to produce healthy neurochemicals. The phenomenon is robust and has been well documented specifically to chemical dependency with the work of Eugene G. Penisten, M.D. of the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fort Lion, Colorado and the University of Southern Colorado at Pueblo.
At HealthCare Connection of Tampa we offer a variety of group sessions. Some sessions are general and others will be specific to the program you are in. For example professional clients meet twice a week in sessions made up exclusively of other clients in their specific professional area. During group sessions you will have the opportunity to openly discuss your situation with others working through similar problems. Group sessions offer a dynamic that can help you achieve results and come to terms with your own addictions by exploring and examining the experiences of other members of the group.
One-to-one Counseling is your time to be most introspective and work directly with your counselor on your specific issues. These sessions will help you to become more in touch with your own problems and gain insights and strategies as well as set personal goals with the help of your counselor.
